Tuesday, 11 April, 7 p.m. - An Evening with the Six SistersSix Sisters Stuff

Lauren and Kendra of the Six Sisters will be visiting the Brigham City Library. They will share three recipes that guests will get to sample. It will be a fun night with the sisters sharing food, ideas, and their background.

A book signing will follow this event and book sales will be available on-site.

Seating is limited, please visit the library or call the library (435-723-5850) to sign-up for thisevent. You can get your name on the list starting Monday, 3 April 2017 at 10 a.m.

LaurenKendraLauren and Kendra are the youngest sisters blogging at Six Sisters' Stuff. Together with their other sisters they started a blog in 2011 to keep in touch with each other as they grew up and moved apart. They now employ all six sisters, their parents, and a few other family friends and have published 5 cookbooks with one on the way. "It has been such an amazing experience to work together and share what we are so passionate about, family time, and food." - Six Sisters

Thursday, 13 April, 6:30 - 8 p.m. - Fairy Tale Fair

For everyone who is young at heart (or would just like a fun way to find out about some of the services offered by their library). Meet fairy tale characters and hear their stories as they introduce you to some of the exciting services your library has to offer. There will be eight tales told simultaneously. The audience rotates betweeen stories at 10 minute intervals. Participants can move around the library and listen to the characters they choose. Each story lasts 10 minutes or less. No sign-up necessary; drop in any time between 6:30 and 8:00 p.m. and listen to as many of the stories as you’d like. The characters will have a surprise for those who come to hear their stories. Box Elder High School Productions will assist with this event.

Saturday, 15 April, 10:30 a.m. & 11:30 a.m. - Spring Activity & Egg Hunt

Our spring activity and egg hunt is for kids 12 and under. Two sessions will be held – 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. There will be a limit of 24 participants for each session. The Fine Arts Center will perform some fun spring puppet stories; kids will then get to hunt for eggs in the library and make a craft. Sign up starting Monday, 3 April 2017 at 10 a.m.

Contests throughout National Library Week

A Coloring Contest for children 12 and under and a Comic Strip Contest for all ages will begin Monday, 3 April at 10 a.m. All entries will be due April 15 and will be on display in the library until 27 April 2017. Both contests will be divided into three age categories with one prize for each age category.

Coloring Contest

Submission Guidelines and Rules:

An assortment of coloring pages will be available at the Library starting Monday, 3 April 2017.

Submissions must be returned to the Library by Saturday, 15 April 2017 at 5:30 p.m. And must include the child’s name (First and Last please), parent’s name, phone number, and the child’s age category.

The National Library Week Committee will select the winning entries. While multiple entries may be worthy of a prize the Committee will only be able to select one (1) prize winner for each category:

o Ages: 3-6
o Ages: 7-9
o Ages: 10-12

Once the committee has selected the contest winners, their decision is final. Winners will be announced on Friday, 21 April 2017.

Prizes: The winner in each category will receive a gift basket.

All entries will be on display in the Library until Thursday, 27 April 2017. Young artists or parents of young artists who wish to pick up their originals may pick them up at the Library between Saturday, 29 April and Saturday, 6 May 2017. Unclaimed entries may be discarded.

Limit: One entry per person. Multiple entries will result in the disqualification of all entries by that person. (Wait to submit until you know which picture you want to be considered by the Committee.)

By submitting a coloring contest entry to the National Library Week Coloring Contest you are granting the Library unlimited rights in using and displaying your entry for Library purposes. This includes, but is not limited to: in-library displays and posts on the Library’s website and social media sites. Any prizes not claimed by the winner or if we are unable to contact you with the phone number provide by Monday, 8 May 2017 the prize will be reassigned to a preselected runner-up in the same age category.

Comic Contest

Prompt: “Find Your Happiness at the Library”

Submission Guidelines and Rules:

Comics must somehow incorporate the prompt (and our National Library Week theme): “Find Your Happiness at the Library”.

Comics are limited to a single page. An assortment of pages with a variety of comic frames will be available at the Library starting Monday, 3 April 2017. All comic entries must be submitted on one of the pages provided by the Library. Comics using more than one page or will be disqualified.

Submissions must be returned to the Library by Saturday, 15 April 2017 at 5:30 p.m. And must include the name (First and Last please), phone number, and age category for the writer/artist.

The Committee will not make any edits to the author’s original submission. Please edit your work before you submit.

All entries should be original and unpublished.

The National Library Week Committee will select the winning entries. While multiple entries may be worthy of a prize the Committee will only be able to select one (1) prize winner for each category:

o Kids: up to 11 years old
o Teen: 12 – 17
o Adult: 18 +

Once the committee has selected the contest winners, their decision is final. Winners will be announced on Friday, 21 April 2017.

Prizes: The winner in each category will receive a $25 gift card for Amazon.com.

All entries will be on display in the Library until Thursday, 27 April 2017. Comic writers/artists who wish to pick up their originals may pick them up at the Library between Saturday, 29 April and Saturday, 6 May 2017. Unclaimed entries may be discarded.

Limit: One entry per person. Multiple comic entries will result in the disqualification of all entries by that person. (Wait to submit until you know which comic you want to be considered by the Committee.)

Visit the Library during National Library Week, 10 – 15 April 2017, and take a photo at our National Library Week Photo Op Station. Show a staff member the photo between Monday, 3 April at 10 a.m. and Saturday, 15 April 2017 at 5:30 p.m. and you’ll receive a Photo Op ticket to enter our National Library Week drawing.

Limit, one Photo Op ticket per person. Family/Friend shots count too! Limit one Photo Op ticket per person in the family. Duplicate entries for individuals will result in the disqualification of all entries by that person. Please print legibly on all tickets. Contact information must be legible by Library staff in order to win.

Fairy Tale Character Unscramble (Limit one entry per person)

Can you unscramble the names of the characters from fairy tales and legends we have on the sign post in the display cabinet near the front door? Pick up an “Unscramble” ticket and unscramble all 9 names successfully and write your answers on the back of your “Unscramble” ticket. Turn your ticket with all your answers in by entering the ticket into one of our National Library Week Drawings. Complete it between Monday, 3 April 2017 and Saturday, 15 April at 5:30 p.m.

Limit, one Unscramble ticket per person. Duplicate entries for individuals will result in the disqualification of all entries by that person. Please print legibly on all tickets. Contact information must be legible by Library staff in order to win.

Tickets from the Unscramble may be used to enter the drawing for any of the National Library Week baskets or the Fire tablet. Answers will not be checked until a winner is drawn. All names must be unscrambled correctly to win.

Additional drawing tickets may be obtained by participating in National Library Week Events, Digital Discovery and the National Library Week Photo Op.

Discover some the things that make you ‘happy’ in our online services. Create an account (if necessary to use the particular service) and start using any of the Digital Discover eligible services available through the Library. Let the staff member at the desk know which service you have an account for and one of the things you’ve done using that service. Complete it between Monday, 3 April 2017 and Thursday, 20 April at 8:30 p.m. and you’ll receive a Digital Discover ticket to enter our National Library Week drawing.

Simply use that service between the dates indicated above and let the staff member at the circulation desk know which service you used and one of the things you used it for between the dates indicated above.

Limit, one Digital Discover ticket per person per service. That means you can earn up to eight (8) Digital Discovery tickets! Individuals with duplicate entries on a single service will result in the disqualification of all entries by that person on that service. Please print legibly on all tickets.
